Language Show celebrates 17% increase
The 2010 edition of The Language Show held on 15-17 October attracted 10,548 attendees – a 17% increase on last year.
The organisers of the show, Upper Street Events Ltd, cited new marketing initiatives and a change of dates and venue that contributed to the success of the event.
The show moved from Olympia 2 to the Brompton Hall, Earls Court which allowed all exhibitors and feature areas to be situated on the same level. The dates were brought forward by two weeks to accommodate teachers and this proved a hit with both visitors and exhibitors. This also coincided with a marketing investment in visitor promotion and new techniques in converting pre-registered visitors.
Dan Sewell,Marketing Manager commented - ‘We’re delighted with the success of the show and the positive feedback we’ve received. We created strong content and feature areas to benefit all types of visitor and invested heavily to deliver a more effective and targeted campaign. ’
The Language Show is the UK’s biggest event for language learners, teachers, interpreters and anyone passionate about languages. Visitors could take taster and intensive classes in over 30 languages, attend over 100 seminars and workshops and watch foreign films in the World Cinema. There were also opportunities to take in cultural performances on The Piazza, sample world food and wine, network at the Teachers’ Lounge, visit the TEFL Fair and attend the dedicated Careers Fair and Forum.
With the show already at capacity and no space to grow, Upper Street Events Ltd now plan to move the show back to the much bigger National Hall at Olympia for its 23rd edition. The move has been strongly supported by exhibitors with a 70% re-book for the 2011 event.
Dan Holmes, Commercial Director commented – ‘The move to the National Hall shows our intent and commitment to building on the success of this year and growing the show for the future.’
